Paradise Works opens its doors for our annual Open Studios event with exhibitions, tours and a party to coincide with The Manchester Contemporary 2023.
We are showcasing what local artistic talent the city has to offer with our community of contemporary visual artists inviting the public into their studios throughout the Saturday.
Start the day by joining us for a free studio tour, exploring the goings-on of an artist-led space, with informal talks from selected studio artists. Book your free ticket here.
Saturday night kicks off at 6pm in our first floor gallery with the preview of ‘In The Membrane’ a group exhibition with Haworth Trust Scholarship recipients Gabriel Kidd, Fleur Yearsley and Isaac Jordan by Jessica Bennett. Our ground floor gallery will preview 'TREE & LEAF', group exhibition by Division of Labour with Simon & Tom Bloor, Vanley Burke, Ruth Claxton, Angelina May Davis, Mark Essen, Andrew Gillespie, Harminder Judge, Andrew Lacon, Jo Masding, Ruth Murray, Duncan Poulton, Yelena Popova, Antonio Roberts, Luke Routledge, Elizabeth Rowe, Gavin Wade, Matt Westbrook, Stuart Whipps, James Winnett and Harrison & Wood. In our project space the installation ‘Empty Galleries’ by Jack Brown will preview in addition to a collaborative exhibition in Jeffrey Knopf’s studio space with Basement Arts Project.
We close with a party and set performed by DJ set by Cally b2b sebastieN, donations bar and street food until 9pm.
For this event we’re pleased to profile our Haworth Trust Scholarship recipients Maisie Pritchard, Anna Clough and Tanith Rhodes, in addition to our Manchester School of Art bursary and the University of Salford scholarship recipients Sophie Dickinson and Adam Rawlinson.

This celebratory evening is a chance to meet and see the work of artists and curators living and working in the cities of Salford and Manchester today.
Access: 'TREE & LEAF' exhibition and five artist studios are accessible from the ground floor. ‘In The Membrane’ exhibition and all other studios are only accessible by stairs.

Paradise Works to present ‘Strange Encounters’ at The Manchester Contemporary 2023
Paradise Works is pleased to present a group exhibition with studio members Gwen Evans, Jack Brown, Mikesian Studio, Jeffrey Knopf and Alex Frost as part of this year’s contemporary art fair from the 17th-19th of November. ‘Strange Encounters’ showcases a series of works from drawing and painting to video work and sculpture, which presents the familiar or everyday encountered in strange and unfamiliar ways.
We are delighted to be part of The Manchester Contemporary After Party, welcoming international curators and collectors to our Saturday night event on Saturday 18th of November, 7-9pm.
